Blending in nicely with the Art-A-Whirl (but not getting lost in the shuffle) local charitable fundraising group, Surge, hosted "Drop of Gold," a benefit for water projects in Bangladesh through Water Partners International. The Minneapolis Photo Center generously lent their sleek, modern and roomy space just for the occasion. Guests were were encouraged to "Meet, mingle and make a difference for WATER: Our New Gold." Works by local artists lined the walls and were auctioned to raise money for the cause. Rounding out the evening were live performances by DJ Mike Moilanen, Chris Thomson, Switzerlind, and Brian Just.
